âThe Husbandsâ by Holly Gramazio is a delightful romp through the complexities of love and marriage, served with a generous helping of humor and whimsy. Gramazioâs debut novel is a masterful blend of romance, magical realism, and contemporary fantasy that keeps you turning pages with a smile.
Laurenâs life takes an unexpected turn when she comes home to find a husband she doesnât remember marrying. The twist? Her attic seems to be a revolving door of spouses, each bringing a slightly altered reality. This quirky premise is a springboard for Gramazioâs exploration of choice and contentment in a world brimming with possibilities.
The narrative is spontaneous and effervescent, much like the parade of husbands that Lauren encounters. Each chapter brings a new surprise, echoing the bookâs central theme of embracing lifeâs unpredictable nature. Gramazioâs writing is sharp and witty, ensuring that the laughter is as abundant as the underlying insights about relationships.
âThe Husbandsâ is not just a story about finding âthe oneâ; itâs a commentary on the modern dating scene, the idea of soulmates, and the societal pressures of settling down. Itâs a book that doesnât shy away from asking big questions: What makes a life fulfilling? How do we know when to stop searching for something better?
For fans of Emily Henry and Penelope Douglas, this book will resonate with its heartfelt humor and the protagonistâs journey to self-discovery. Itâs a novel that celebrates the messiness of life and love, reminding us that sometimes, the best choice is to simply enjoy the ride.

Truly enjoyable book! Great tale of decision fatigue for the most important of life decisions. Each husband was a riot! Made me appreciate my husband more.
I really liked this book - the one thing I had to suspend belief on was the relationship between Lauren and Bohai because the resets appeared to change things fundamentally in the existing timeline. I wonât go more into it since itâs a spoiler but once you read youâll know. I think it was a clever, unique premise and made me think a little bit more about how things stay the same and change when different choices are made which is something I always like to ponder. I also liked this mechanism/play with alternate universes. It felt like the author was having fun writing it. Not a perfect book so not five stars, but a strong 4/5 showing.
Did not enjoy the book. Wasn’t sure what to expect with a title like this but to have that many husbands….there is obviously something wrong with her.
